Amazon have now opened up their own dedicated
UK Kindle store which is great news for UK
residents. Getting a Kindle shipped to the UK from the States was pretty easy actually -
but now there's no need to worry about the exchange rate, you can use your debit card instead of
having to pay with a credit card and, of course, you get a three pin UK charger.
The latest third generation Kindle Wi-Fi only version
is available for just £109 with the free 3G + Wi-Fi model on offer at £149. 3G connectivity is
provided by Vodafone in the UK so coverage is good - and there's no monthly fees to pay -
ever.
At the moment there are 400,000 Kindle books available
through the UK Kindle store. There is also an excellent selection of UK newspapers, magazines and
periodicals. If the US site is anything to judge by, you can expect the number of available titles
to grow pretty quickly.
Right now, there are some very keen prices for the top
100 best sellers. Amazon UK have also listed the top 100 free UK Kindle books side by side with the
best sellers to make it really easy to find some great free reads.
If you have already had a Kindle shipped over from the
USA, then you can just log into the UK Kindle store and download books as normal. Your Kindle,
already registered with the US site, will be automatically recognised. If you wish you can use the
"Manage Your Kindle" function to quickly and easily transfer the registration of your Kindle from
the Amazon.com site to the Amazon.co.uk site. It takes no more than a couple of minutes.
Apart from buying a Kindle and Kindle books, you can
download free Kindle Apps to let you read Kindle books on a wide variety of other platforms. At the
time of writing there are Kindle apps available for Windows PCs, Apple Macs, Apple iPad, Apple
iPhone and any device which use the Android operating system.
A whole host of Kindle accessories is available to
help you customise and protect your reader. Covers, skins, carry bags, spare chargers, screen
protectors - whatever you want is now available direct from Amazon UK.
So why not visit the UK Kindle store today and have a
browse?
